Raiders opened the NFL season in lost to their division rival the San Diego Chargers 14-22. The Raiders were a little out of style particularly resulting from the punt team due the loss to the Raiders long snapper Jon Condo to injury in the first half.  Raiders punt team never seemingly got back on track after that as the unit just went downhill as each punt turned into a disaster as the first one resulted in block punt and only one out four punts went beyond the line of scrimmage in the second half.

Therefore Phillip Rivers and company capitalized on the Raiders mistakes and took advantage of them pull them into their first win of the season.

For the Raiders there weren’t many bright spots, on the field throughout the contest but the defense upfront added a great punch holding the Chargers running game to only 32 yards.

Carson Palmer stood his ground most of the evening throwing for nearly 300 yards with no interceptions and assisted Darren McFadden in breaking a team record for most receptions in a game by a running back.

Next on the list for the Raiders is the Miami Dolphins as for the Chargers they go home to battle the Tennessee Titans.
