Oakland Raider rookie sensation Jacoby Ford has been a positive sign on offense for the struggling Raiders the past few weeks.
Ford has become a target for Raiders quarterbacks Jason Campbell and Bruce Gradkowski. Ford is most dangerous on kickoff returns.
Ford made a great impact the last several weeks for the Raiders. His heroics began in week nine when the Raiders won a big game against their division rival the Kansas City Chiefs. He had two receptions leading the Raiders to a scoring drive late in the game.
The rookie wide receiver presents impressive concentration in catching a pass. When a deep ball appears in Ford's site he has the ability to snatch it away from the defenders hands.
Week nine he had six catches for a total of 148 yards and took a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.
In last Sunday's loss to the Dolphins Ford made all the highlight films. His speed was displayed in the opening kickoff. He blew by defenders and ran 101 yards to the touchdown. Ford scored on a 44 yard reception from Bruce Gradkowski later in the game. He leaned up in the air and made an incredible catch leaving corner-back Benny Sapp of the Dolphins in the dust. Gradkowski threw another ball in the air, it seemed as if it might have been pick off by safety Chris Clemens only to have it grabbed right out his hands by Ford for 52 yard reception.
Ford is a rookie out of Clemson University selected in the forth round by the Raiders in the draft this past April. He played in every game this season but has only recorded receptions in the last five games.
Ford is confident in the Raiders passing game and understands he needs the ball to be thrown his direction to make big plays for his team.
Ford received his opportunities since the Raiders this season have tremendously suffered from injuries stemming from their receiving core. Allowing him to some great looks on offense and chances to shine.
Ford is averaging 20 yards a catch, second among rookies with at least ten receptions. In just five games of offense, Ford has 16 receptions for 320 yards. Ford a forth round pick making a serious impact especially in the return game. He is the only rookie with two kickoff return for touchdowns and his 101 yard return last week is the longest among rookies.
Raiders wide receiver and kick return specialist Jacoby Ford shown that he is one of the most productive and exciting rookie in the NFL. He may not qualify for the rookie of the year but he has definitely shown he is one of the most impressive rookies this season.
Raiders know they have a weapon on offense. Their goal is to provide Ford with more opportunities to show the team his aggressive play-making abilities.
